Originally, Hawthorn wasstarted as a real estate development and investment firm founded by Mathew Roth and Ryan McDonnell. After McDonnell and Roth bought two multi-family homes and renovated and sold them, they started to shift their focus from buying and flipping homes to custom construction and renovations.
